Blu-ray & DVD: The Digital Dread Report for 2/14

It's another busy week on the disc front, and even though only a few of the new releases  are ones that we would blind buy on Blu-ray, there's quite a mix of interesting titles to choose from.

Also, love is in the air or something because it's Valentine's Day.

Be sure to click the pics below to buy the movies, or even rent them. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?

  • If you didn't catch Quarry when it aired on Cinemax this past Fall, then you missed out on one of the best TV shows of 2016. It's an excellent Crime Drama which boasts two stellar performances by the incomprable Peter Mullan (the guy is amazing in every role he takes), and Damon Herriman (who honestly can do no wrong in our eyes), and offers a dark, bloody story that kept us glued to our TV's week in and week out. If you loved shows like Banshee and Justified like we did (two of our all-time faves), then add Quarry to your repertoire, and don't look back.
  • Arrival is probably the biggest release of the week, even though for us Quarry is the one that we have to own. Arrival is a slick, engrossing Sci-Fi flick that I personally loved... even though it didn't really offer much in the way of action or thrills. It's an emotional, character-driven movie, and I dig that kind of thing, especially with the likes of Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in the leads. Definitely one to watch.
  • We Are the Flesh and City of Dead Men are two flicks that we've been curious to get a hold of for a while now, and while we'll probably go the VOD route with them, they're certainly tempting on Blu-ray
  • And everything else, as always, is a crap-shoot.
